We embark on a journey to uncover the wonders of Small Lagoon, from its secluded entrance to the conservation efforts preserving its pristine beauty.
Accessing the Lagoon
Accessing Small Lagoon is an adventure in itself, requiring passage through a narrow opening between limestone rocks. Only accessible by swimming or kayaking, this secluded entrance ensures an intimate and uncrowded experience, inviting travelers to immerse themselves in the serenity of the surroundings.
Activities and Experiences
Once inside, visitors are greeted by a playground of exploration. Kayaks beckon adventurers to paddle through hidden corners and caves, unveiling the lagoon’s secrets with every stroke. Snorkeling enthusiasts are treated to a vibrant underwater world teeming with diverse marine life, making each dive an unforgettable encounter with nature’s wonders.
Conservation Efforts
Small Lagoon owes its pristine condition to the dedicated conservation efforts of the municipality of El Nido. By limiting daily entries to 800 people, authorities ensure sustainable tourism practices that safeguard the lagoon’s delicate ecosystem. This commitment to preservation ensures that future generations can continue to marvel at its beauty.
Tourist Amenities
While Small Lagoon offers a retreat into nature, tourists can still enjoy modern conveniences. From kayak rentals to guided tours, amenities are available to enhance the visitor experience while prioritizing safety and environmental responsibility. These services seamlessly blend with the natural surroundings, offering a harmonious balance between comfort and adventure.
Best Times to Visit
For optimal exploration, plan your visit to Small Lagoon during the dry season, from November to May. During this period, the weather is more predictable, creating ideal conditions for outdoor activities. To savor the tranquility and avoid crowds, embark on an early morning adventure and witness the lagoon come to life with the dawn.
Local Tips and Guidelines
To make the most of your Small Lagoon experience, heed the advice of local guides. They offer invaluable insights into the best spots for kayaking and snorkeling, ensuring you discover hidden gems off the beaten path. Additionally, practice responsible tourism by respecting the environment—refrain from touching coral reefs and carry out all waste, leaving nothing behind but memories.

From the El Nido Miniloc Resort this is one of the best excursions not to miss. Kayaking the big lagoon/small lagoon. Amazing. So serene and peaceful I echo the sentiments of the first reviewer. Definitely a place to float around in a kayak just marveling at the limestone formations and enjoy the sheer bliss of such a peaceful environment. We had fun diving and jumping off the boat in the area and swimming around. #heaven
