My wife asked him some questions about the tour, why he was so happy, which is why such an extensive explanation of the cooking. He already had plans so was only able to take a two day tour, starting and ending in Coron, but next time plans to take the full tour all the way to El Nido, with more days. He prefers not to post any pics of himself.

Overall it was a good tour – saw heaps of amazing coral reefs and sea life.

Lunch on a Cadlao Island tour

The food on day #1 was absolutely incredible, some of the best seafood I’ve had anywhere in any country, let alone in the Philippines. Lunch was steamed mussels and baked fish of some sort. Fish was cooked to perfection, juicy but not underdone. Really delicious. I don’t normally like mussels at all, but whatever they did to these ones (or maybe they’re a different breed I’ve never tried, I dunno) – they tasted better than 99% of seafood I’ve ever eaten. The bananas and pineapple they served with lunch were really sweet, and clearly very fresh pretty much straight from the tree. Dinner was fried chicken, lumpia, rice, and mangoes + more pineapple. The fried chicken – best I’ve had in the Philippines, crispy thin skin, virtually no fat or grease. Lumpia – I *love* lumpia at pretty much any time, but again this was better than 99% of lumpia I’ve ever had.  Food on day #2 was not bad, but nowhere near as good as on day1, bbq pork, shrimp, rice, and more mangoes + watermelon.  #1 food – that stuff was 5-star restaurant quality.

Would definitely do the 3-day tour next time, stretching that much travel over only 2 days made for some pretty tedious boat rides – but we knew that was going to happen going in, so can’t complain!

Alex was a really great guy.  Super nice, really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for him.
