Last week i went to ko phangan for a few days and i slept at home's Karel! It was amazing, 'cause in fact a slept in a hammock with one of the best sea view you can have!!! Juste next to the water. Oh Karel, Paradise Bird! It was my first couchsurf experience and a very, very good one! The first day me and my friend Charlie arrived i got very sick and karel let me sleep in his bed, before he even got to know us better. He was helpfull and i got better very quick. The next day we had a wonderful day riding the motorbike up north all together and karel showed us some beautiful beaches. The island is great, but much prettier in the north/west where karel lives, than in the south where most tourists go. We highly recomment to stay with karel and we just want to say thanks for everything karel! Peace and love

Karel's place is in an absolute paradise! Staying the night at his humble abode was an experience of lifetime. Even knowing that we were Couchsurfing virgins, he took us (my boyfriend and I) in and we are so thankful he took that chance! We crashed on his porch in his hammock and slept with the sky and moon above us. Totally a perfect night. We spent a lot of time chatting as we made dinner and ate together. Karel is an amazing guy! He's worldly, unique and talented. He lives a life that some dream of! A lovely little simple bungalow perched above the ocean in Thailand. We didn't surf as my husband and I are very particular about our sleeping area (mosquito free after the Dengue Fever experience), however! Karel's place is a bit like a fairy tale! Karel is very generous, accommodating and great company. I highly recommend him for surfing or hosting :D

Truly enjoyed going to the local grocer with u, 'helping' u cook, eating the yummy dish you made, listening to your stories, hanging out at The Jam, and riding on ur bike up and down that steep hill! Karel is very buoyant and cheerful guy who loves nature and he literally merges with it. Karel has kindly given us a tent, so we spent on the nature in a beautiful area near the village of Varvara 2 days. I remember 1 night we spent together by the fire and the original beer-diet of Karel :))

Karel hosted us in Bulgaria. He was a caring host that always made sure we were comfortable in his home. It was a great experience staying with him and in his village and he definitely did a good job helping us settle in, giving us tips on how to behave in front of Dimitry, the local grumpy grocer. We gathered at his friend’s house at night with other travellers and it was a cosy meet up filled with song, laughter, good food and drinks. It was definitely a refreshing cultural experience mingling with Karel, Atanas, Maggie and Paul. The day we spent at Karel’s was indeed a memorable Bulgarian experience. Take care and all the best!

In the remote village of ivan vazovo we had a very nice night; karel took us to the local pub and then we went to one of his friends; he persuaded us to try the hotsprings, so the next morning we went there and had an amazing time; thanks karel!

An amazing experience, to stay with Karel, an interesting, well travelled and laidback guy. Living the country life in a small village in the middle of Bulgaria with only the basics; lots of great organic, very local produce cooked veggie stews/soups, bathing in thermal baths and springs, exploring of local villages and towns for fire wood for Karel's winter store, partaking in the five Tibetan energy exercises and ground work for their vegetable growing WOOFing projects.
Definitely ticked the well-being boxes; Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give. A great retreat and an experience I'll never forget.

Karel hosted us next to his truck :) at the great Bulgarian coast close to Barbara and those were some of the most relaxing days of our trip! Karel is a great, easygoing guy who makes you feel being part of the group at once. We also met some of his friends, cooked together his very!!! spicy but tasty food and even hang out one night at a campfire together with other Bulgarians! If you stay with him, ask him to play the guitar!!! Thank you sooo much, if you ever come to Germany, let us know!!!

Birge and her boyfriend were fun to host because I kept offering to take them different places but they were perfectly content to sit, gleaming out at the ocean in our lovely, tranquil spot. It was understandable they didn't want to leave and we enjoyed partying around the campfire with the local aborigines.

I really enjoyed to listen to his travelling adventures with his truck in south-east europe, especially the 3 polish story ;-) Good thing with Karel is also that he likes beer as much as I do and even if I get to know him for less than 24h, we probably drinked enough beers for a week time...

My friend and I surfed in Karel's van while touring along the Black sea coastline of Bulgaria. It is certainly a unique and cool experience if you happen to catch this guy before he moves out of town. Given the fact that he is mobile, you have to act quick if you want to hitch a ride in the party wagon. Good times!

I met up with Karel on Sept. 3rd (2010)after I took the bus from Varna to Burgas and from there catching a mini-bus south to Varvara, which is a stone's throw from the Turkish border. His will probably be my only nomadic couch-surfing venue; I slept in the back crew seat of the truck. We spent two nights in the truck perched above a bluff overlooking the beach. We moved off the beach onto a side street of the town on the 3rd night and went to Lozonets the 4th night. Upon arrival the first day I had no problem locating his truck, but found him quite by chance in town as we attempted by cellphone to determine each's whereabouts by how close we were to the gypsy music in the square. Karel knows the coast and its beaches well; this knowledge comes from months of roaming and camping on the Black Sea shore. We spent our evenings till one or two am drinking beer at a town festival and then heading back to camp. Thanks for the invitation, Karel!

I walked from my truck down to the villeg from Varvara in Bulgaria. On my way I saw Karels beutifull truck. Ofcourse i was intrestet in it. But nobody was at home :-( The next day I crossed again, outside was a joung German Girl. She was a bit shey. I sad Hello, and a coupel of minutes Karel came back from swimming. The German girl was a couchsurfer and Karel a mobile hoster which lives in a truck like me. I thougth always I am the only mobile hoster on CS, but Karel teached me I am wrong. We make friendchip emidiatly and spend nearly every night together for arround the next 2 weacks. It was a beutifull time in front of the trucks or near a camp fire from lokal peopel. We had a coupel of beer and playd Gittar (o now, Karel played, I lissent :-) I think it becomes to an adventure for everyone to surf the mobile couch from this open mind man. I am sure you will like it if you are a travler and not a tourist. Thanks for the time, and of course I like to have the number of your friend.

Karel is a mad banana, in the best of sense. He is up for trips, sports, going out, exploring places. Definitely not a couch potato and a fairly reliable person to be around. We camped together on several occassions, the trips always went well. Also celebrated 2 New Years together at Karel's place in Prague, what an interesting crowd of people always present at his parties.
